WP1: Scientific coordination and conduct of the epidemiological study

This WP incorporates two separate but complementary activities: the overall scientific coordination of the project, which will last throughout the entire duration of the project, and the conduct of the epidemiological study in all participating countries.

WP2: Finalisation of the study instruments

This WP develops, tests, modifies, and finalises the study instruments, including the core protocol and the different questionnaires that will be used for data abstraction in all countries, and information material for study subjects.

WP3: Quality assurance

WP3 ensures high-quality procedures for: conducting the study; validating the questionnaire; conducting quality control of the collected data; assessing the quality and validating the exposure estimates; verifying diagnoses; and confirming the tumour locations. Formal analyses will also provide insight into the resulting uncertainty of the study outcome.

WP4: Exposure assessment

This WP determines the distributions of: the Specific energy Absorption Rate (SAR) from RF fields, ELF magnetic flux density and induced current density produced inside the head by hand-held phones. Within this WP, we also assess the extent to which any other sources may contribute materially to exposure.

WP5: Data analysis and management

WP5 sets up and maintains the databases; programs validation tools and exposure indices; and analyses the validation studies and non-response questionnaires as well as the relation between the risk of brain tumours and exposures to RF and ELF from mobile phones and other relevant and important sources of exposure in the general environment of young people.

WP6: Dissemination

This WP involves developing: the project communication action plan and tools; scientific publications; and dissemination activities aimed at the effective distribution of  information to the public and other stakeholders.

WP7: Project management

This WP monitors the work plan and Consortium management issues. It deals with financial, administrative, and legal aspects of the project, with a special emphasis on promoting efficient communication among participants and reporting processes.
